Wichitans Alan Ebright and Chad Coxcreated the FanCam as a way to help businesses integrate their Facebook pages with their real-life locations. Patrons at a business use the device to take a photo of themselves, which they can then send to their own Facebook page and the page belonging to the business.
Mia Lee, owner of the Web and marketing firm Lee Media Group, joined Ebright and Cox a couple months ago as a co-owner.
Lee says the company has experienced rapid growth over the past few months, including a deal with Eddy’s Toyota for a 42-inch FanCam in the showroom.
Brad Fuller, owner/operator of the new Chick-fil-A, says he was interested in the concept partly because the fast-food chain typically tries to market on an organic, grassroots level. He says he liked the idea that Chick-fil-A fans could, in effect, do some marketing for him by sharing their experience with Facebook friends.
“We want to engage them and let them engage each other,” he said. “The concept is creating a passionate fan with an emotional connection to your place, your restaurant. … This felt like something we could plug into to give and to share that experience.”
A full list of other Fancam locations is available on the company’s website.
